“Let’s Talk: A Writing Retreat on Dialogue” in November 2007
with Judy Labensohn, Evan Fallenberg and Joan Leegant

Evan and I often wonder how each retreat can be better than the previous one. Again, tfu tfu, we were delighted by the response to this, our fifth writing retreat together. What made this retreat extra special was the presence of Joan Leegant, a wonderful writer, a generous teacher, a closet stand-up, and a quiet sleeper. We hope Joan will join us again at a writing retreat in Israel. We were also honored by the presence of two wonderful Danes who came especially to Israel for our retreat and hope to see them again, along with all the old-timers and newcomers.

Here are some photos, followed by comments received from participants:

How great to be able to look at pictures and remember!! Whenever I need a boost, I’ll just have to come back here and reminisce.

Almost as good as Habonim camp in S Africa when I was fifteen. Maybe its the female:male ratio that inspires me?

    Judy shalom,

I saw your piece on Jordan in the last issue of “The Jerusalem Report” and wanted to share with you that we had the same feeling of discovering a close neighbor on our trip to Jordan shortly after the opening of the borders. The overwhelming Palestinian presence in Jordonand physical resemblance really does make this place feel very familiar. I wish we could copy the cleanliness and hospitality.

Judy, I don’t have an email address for you so I am using this “comment” to ask for your help in publicizing an activity of interest to English speakers in Israel and visitors during Pesach. You know we are active in Tsad Kadima (Miriam is doing incredibly well, living in an apartment with 5 other CP adults independently in the community). This is the fourth year I am organizing with Asher Arbit a charity hike we call “Hike for Hope” along different sections of the Israel Trail to benifit Tsad Kadima programs. This year the hike is during Chol Hamoed Pesach, April 22-24, in the Ramon Crater area, with a one day Family Route and two day Challenge Route. We have a lot of fun and raise money for an important cause. I would love it if you would join us but in any case ask if you could help spread the word. If you send me your email I will attach a press release we put together and flyer on the Hike. For now you can see all the details at http://www.tsadkadima.org.il.

I hope all is well with you. Not seeing you on the way to the makolet cuts down on contact. If you like, you can also reach me at 054 4672699.

    Hoping to hear from you.

    Marc Render

Judy its always good to read the news letters. You have your troubles there in Israel with the rocket attacks. Always remember the Jewish people are GODS chosen people. The true Christian People in Canada stand with the Jewish People. I dont know about the Vatican in Rome. I am not a Catholic or want to be. In the old Testament Bible it speaks over and over about not making or having any graven images and NOT to bow down to any graven images. The Catholic churches have lots of them in their churches. also at their grave sites. it makes me wonder what Bible they go by. Judy I may not be perfect but when GOD says your not to make ,have, bow down to an image then why are the Catholics doing it?. They must be told the pope is just a man. We are told to bow to GOD only. Judy there are a lot that say they are Christian churches yet they allow homosexual ministers, also they marry homosexuals. GOD’S word says no in Leviticus 18: 22–27. Leviticus 20: 13. also a lot of women that go to churchs okays abortions because its their rights. God says thou shall not kill. The world has become a sinful place to raise children. Judy I do believe GOD is angry at the mess we have made of the once wonderful world HE gave us to look after. Thanks for your time. All the best to you Judy always. Jerry
